So, you're here for a week and due to our fabulous snow conditions (almost 300 inches this season!), your skiing and riding legs only allow you to hurl down the terrain a few days in a row. You need a break, right? You've certainly come to the right spot.
We used to vacation here at Winter Park. It started that way at least. Then, we wanted to spend the night each time we came, then we realized we're here more often than 'home', so we bought a condo with the intention of renting it out while not in use. Then, we came for a summer because we wanted to check it off the list and now? We live here full time and love it. Best decision we ever made. I was worried. I was worried there wouldn't be enough to do with three small kids year round. Whoa, was I ever wrong. I could easily go into all the fabulous things you can do to occupy your time, but, you're here for a week, so I'll keep it short and highlight a few faves.
I've recently became a fan of the snowmobile. There's a few different ways to enjoy. If you've got kids with you between 4-12, you must check out the minis at Grand Adventures. There's a loop course set up just for them, on machines built for them. They drive, you watch them go! Check it out just as you come into town from the resort on the right near Beaver Village. If you're looking for more, book an unguided or guided 2 or 4 hour trip and travel up to the Continental Divide. The views are breathtaking. You can ride single or double.
You may want to stretch your legs after this one, so I suggest a leisurely cross country ski workout. With so many back-country trails to enjoy should you have your own equipment, you can't go wrong here. The snow is perfect, the temperatures are nice and warm and you'll be glad you got some fresh mountain air! Stop in the Visitor Center, or our Real Estate of Winter Park office for some maps. If you're not feeling that adventurous, hit up Devil's Thumb or Snow Mountain Ranch, or even the meadow at Grand Park in Fraser for some nice groomed trails.
With the warm temperatures, you must apres ski on the back deck at Hecks Restaurant at Devil's Thumb. They've got an incredible happy hour menu ($2 beers, yummy small plates and a game room for the kids!) Monday through Thursday and unforgettable views of the Divide.
Want even more? Get your bowl on at The Foundry or watch a movie on one of the giant screens. Bring the family or friends to play BINGO at Carver's on Saturday, March 15th at 6:30. Proceeds benefit The Grand Slammers, our local club baseball team, and cash prizes for each winner. Full bar available and light snacks too.
I hope this helped ease your weary legs. Maybe when it's all said and done, you'll have time to check out your next vacation house. Come and see us at Real Estate of Winter Park downtown for an insider look at the local real estate!
Enjoy your trip and come back soon!
