Winter Park New Headwater Center Grand Opening May 26th

Winter Park has been faithfully serving the needs of sports enthusiasts for 75 continual years, be it winter, spring, summer, or autumn.  Skiing, snowboarding, sledding, ice skating in winter or hiking and biking on the myriad of trails that sport picturesque views of waterfalls, lakes, rivers in spring and summer and making happy those faithful souls of abundantpatience who dutifully cast fishing lines with all hope of reeling in ‘the big one’ of German Brown, Rainbow, Brook, or Cutthroat trout. Winter Park also ‘holds its own’ with any northeastern states where autumn foliage is concerned, with 23 million (yes, 23 million!) acres of public land! Winter Park is a ‘leaf peepers’ paradise and a favorite place for hunting, hiking, biking, camping, and horseback riding!

Can this Winter Park community of 16.5 square miles, located in the southeastern corner of Grand County and 67 miles from the city of Denver, get any better? If you aren’t up on the latest ‘buzz’ — yes, it can!  Don’t miss the grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony of the Winter Park Headwater Center, located at 730 Baker Drive, on May 26, 2018 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.  Enjoy live music, non-alcoholic drinks, and raffle prizes. Meet and greet the neighbors and tour the new Headwater Center, a 3-story building that was re-constructed from a Civil War-era barn and is completely sustained by solar energy to the facility. The solar energy is also stored specifically for the facility and not sent to an outside grid power system.

This special event came to be when Winter Park officials offered the five acres of land, known as Sitmark North, on the northern boundary of town along side Rt. 40 to Bob and Suzanne Fanch, who found it the ideal location to operate an ecology education center, their aim to bring focus to headwater issues of the Fraser River and other river systems of Colorado as they see the population of Colorado expand. The center is adjacent to the Fraser River and other wetlands.

The Headwater Ecology Center located on the lower level of the community center, is scheduled for official opening in 2019 and will be funded by the Sprout Foundation, a 501(c) (3) organization involved in children’s programs and the environment in Grand County and Denver for over ten years. The May 26 ribbon cutting will now give the general public and organizations ability to host such outdoor events as local farmers markets and concerts and such indoor events as private parties, dances, and meeting room space for up to 350 people. The 1500 square foot loft area, scheduled to open in the fall of 2018, will accommodate 50 people for classroom instruction and is equipped with latest audio-visual equipment.

Winter Park is not only the premium destination for sports enthusiasts and resort activities but is also becoming a very desirable family friendly community. Please give me a call not only in regards to market opportunities in Winter Park, but also if you are looking for a great trail recommendation!”
