It's summertime in the Rocky Mountains! In case you don't know, being in the town of Winter Park, Colorado in the summer is absolutely incredible. The surrounding areas, like Rocky Mountain National Park, have an abundance of alpine flowers growing in the tundra. Hiking alongside the beautiful snow-capped mountain peaks while stepping over the multi-colored flowers is something to behold.
Driving through the town of Winter Park, there are flower gardens, hanging baskets and window boxes on every corner and in front of every business. Homeowners also use the beautiful summer sun to enhance their decks with baskets and flower pots. Flowers that are native to our area, like the state flower Columbine, wild roses and also the brilliant purple Lupine, grow wild in our yards.
The Winter Park area is known of its incredible skiing and winter activities but coming here in the summertime is a must. The days are warm, the sun is shining and there are activities all summer long. Winter Park and Fraser have free music concerts every week, Tuesdays in Fraser and Thursdays in Winter Park. Every weekend is full of fun, this upcoming weekend is the Jazz Festival and the Alpine Art Affair.
Just a few minutes down the road are our three lakes; Lake Granby, Shadow Mountain Reservoir and Grand Lake. And to top that off, Rocky Mountain National Park is just past Grand Lake, offering the most incredible scenery and wildlife that our state has to offer. I think it's time for you to come up to Grand County, Colorado and enjoy the summer!
