It is Mud Season in the high country - the snow is melting quickly in Grand County, CO as we transition from winter to summer! It is time to get those last few ski/snowboard days in before Winter Park Resort closes on April 22nd and Mary Jane Resort is closing the following weekend on April 29th. Both weekends are a celebration of the ski season coming to a end and the start of summer. There's lots of music and activities planned from the Spring Splash pond skim to the music at the base of WP closing weekend to the infamous C-Lot party the last day at the Jane (not a resort sponsored event - and not kid friendly). Check out the Winter Park-Fraser Valley Chamber Website for more information.
It is also time to tidy up your yard and house to get it ready for summer... raking, leveling mole dirt tunnels, putting rocks back that the snow plow moved and assessing what improvements need to be done this summer that couldn't be taken care of during the winter months.... I know I've got to paint, replace gutters and finish up my fire pit/ back yard project from last year.... we're also putting up a new ski fence! And the wildlife specialists are saying that the bears are starting to wake up from their hibernation and that we need to make sure trash is secure, grills are clean, to bring in bird feeds, etc to deter bears.
Happy Mud Season to all - enjoy this special time of year and make the most of it!
