Every year, as the snow starts to melt, more and more trash seems to appear. Covering our roadways, sidewalks, traffic barriers, trails, and just about everywhere the eye can see. Colorado alone produced a record 9.3 million tons of trash in 2018, according to Tamara Chuang with The Colorado Sun. With not much change since then, “Colorado continues to lag far behind the national average when it comes to recycling.”
The Town of Fraser has stepped up with small changes that will make a big difference. Starting with the plastic bag reinstatement fee. The fee for plastic bags will be reinstated on May 1st, 2021. The town is also giving away reusable bags at town hall, while supplies last.
Fraser also sponsors a Community Cleanup Program. Supplying trash bags, safety vests for cleaning up along the roads, trash pickers, and arranges trash pick up upon completion. If you would like to be a part of this program, contact Dale Booth at email@example.com or by phone at (970)-726-5491 ext. 230.
Lastly, the Town of Fraser will be providing a disposal service for town residents. This includes the disposal of electronics and car tires. Taking place atThe Dropon May 2nd, from 11am - 4pm. See list of limitations below on what cannot be taken to The Drop on this day.
- No semi or tracker tires
- No appliances
- No hazardous or toxic waste
- No liquid waste
- No household chemicals
- No car batteries
- No petroleum products
- No contaminated soils
As the seasons change, it’s important that we take care of this beautiful community we love to work and play in. We can all make changes that lead to big results. These are just a few things we should all be doing. It’s time to get creative and support the community that supports us.

"We initially worked with RE of Winter Park and Jean Wolter 4 years ago in a search for a 2nd vacation home and we decided to wait a few years. In 2020, we re-engaged our search and even though we pivoted a couple times in what we ultimately ended up pursuing, Jean and her team at RE at Winter Park assisted us in a manner that met every expectation. Her experience and being a resident in Grand County makes a difference!"
