1. Alterra Mountain Company - The parent company of Winter Park Resort, Alterra Mountain Company, announced that Winter Park will receive $28.2 million for capital improvements this year. This will include the replacement of the Zephyr Lift with a 10 person gondola as well as an overhaul of the Resort’s snow making equipment (which is 42 years old).
2. The last affordable ski town in Colorado - Compared to other ski towns, Winter Park and Grand County provide the most affordable single family home and condo/townhome prices. According to the multiple listing service reports, in Grand County the average price of a single family home is just under $500,000. In Summit county, the average price of a single family home comes in over $1.1 million, Eagle and Pitkin counties are even higher.
3. Proximity to Denver - Just 68 miles from Denver, the drive to Winter Park is an easy trip that takes you off the I 70 corridor well before the Eisenhower Tunnel traffic. Additionally, Winter Park is the only ski town in the United States accessible by train.
