If you have never experienced the Christmas holiday at a ski
resort, you are in for a treat. The Town
of Winter Park is lit up with Christmas lights and decorations and of course,
real snow! While the weather has been
incredible and unseasonably warm, we still have amazing snow both on the ski resort and throughout
our many snowshoe and cross country ski trails in the area. The beautiful blue-bird days are meant for
being outside and enjoying the Rocky Mountains.
Starting at 1:00 pm on Christmas Eve, there will be a lot of
activities at the base of the Winter Park Resort. From 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Santa Claus will be
visiting the Village at Winter Park! From
3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, there will be Dancing Christmas Trees. And from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, there will be
Christmas Carolers through the Village.
Then the real fun begins!
The Torchlight Parade and Fireworks on Lower Hughes will begin at 5:30
pm. This long-running Winter Park
tradition delights children and parents alike.
Skiers and our trail groomers
make quite a show on Lower Hughes and the fireworks rival our 4th
of July celebration. You won’t want to
miss it, it’s spectacular.
At 6:00 pm, there will be a Non-denominational Service at
the Balcony House at the Base of the ski area.
In the other building called West Portal Station, a Catholic Mass will
be held also at 6:00 pm. After the fun
festivities at the base of the mountain, come on down to the downtown area of
Winter Park for even more decorations, celebrations and wonderful dining
opportunities.
There truly is no better place to be at Christmastime than
in the heart of the Rocky Mountains; Winter Park, Colorado. Enjoy your holiday and I’m wishing a very
Healthy and Happy New Year to all!
