Rent Vs Buy

Rent Vs Buy

Do you read the Skimm?  It’s my favorite quick source for news each morning.  An email directly to my inbox…that’s a whole other blog however.   Anyway, I read the Skimm earlier this week and they had a great link to Chase Bank’s article on whether to rent or buy.  Check it out by clicking here.  Of course, I’m a little biased being in the Real Estate Business, but it’s refreshing to read that it truly is an investment worth considering.  In a mountain town like ours, we see a lot of families, couples, friends paying rent for 3-5 months each ski season so they have a place to enjoy while hitting the slopes and not having to drive home each evening.  What’s personally great about our town, the ski areas of Winter Park and Mary Jane aren’t a far drive up I70.  We get to miss a lot of that congestion the interstate offers each weekend.  We’re one of the last truly affordable places to invest in a mountain property.  If you’re one of those people who like renting for a ski season, I invite you to look further and seeing if investing your money in a mortgage is a better option for you.  We’re seeing prices go up and up as of late and with the new development, transportation and business opportunities in our Winter Park/Fraser Valley, I don’t see prices leveling out or decreasing anytime soon.  So, if you love to ski, ride, hike, bike, relax and explore the mountain, maybe it’s time to consider a purchase rather than a seasonal rental!  Feel free to reach out to me anytime to discuss options in our valley further.  I can’t wait to talk to you!
