Ever wonder what to do when the weather is so frigid cold and the Winter Park Ski Resort has over 100 inches of snow? Get on out there and play of course! I was talking to my kids the other day on different things we can do over the weekend. Staying inside for us is just not an option. There’s too much to take advantage of while living here in the Winter Park and Fraser Valley. We have all the appropriate cold weather gear, so why not. The kids ski each Friday with the Piranha’s ski school. They look forward to it each week. If you have kids, it’s the best deal in town AND they learn to ski and have fun while doing it (no matter the cold temps!). We wanted something different, and exciting. We have boys. They like to do things that are tough and fast. Snowmobiling was the overwhelming answer. Check out Grand Adventures (www.grandadventures.com) for a variety of snowmobile trips, including ones for just the little people. Kids ages 4-12 can ride by themselves around a track. Jackpot! The boys were in heaven. They get all the “cool” gear – helmets, goggles, boots – and get to drive alone. For those wanting to leave the kids behind or even share a machine, there’s guided trips for all abilities leaving from downtown Winter Park, Fraser and even Grand Lake. You leave right from these locations and can explore the top of the Continental Divide, the endless backcountry, Rocky Mountain National Park, Arapahoe National Forest and Church’s Park just to name a few. So, come on! Get on out here and take advantage of the Winter Park/Fraser Valley and all we have to offer.
